BETH DIN OF AMERICA NEWS The New York Kings County Supreme Court overturns decision of the Beth Din of America. This case involved the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway that fired a teacher because the teacher’s religious views did not match the school. The Beth Din of America judges were: Rabbi Mordechai Willig, Rabbi Ronald Warburg, and Rabbi Steven Pruzansky. In the decision which was first published in the New York Law Journal, the Kings County Supreme Court concluded: “After a careful review of the complete record, including the entire court file, the Court determines that the Beth Din of America Award is irrational, clearly exceeds the arbitrators’ power and is violative of public policy.” The Court goes on to say that “ The Beth Din award was totally irrational, the Beth Din exceeded a specifically enumerated limitation on its authority, and the award is violative of a strong public policy.” It should be noted that the Judge on the New York Supreme Court was Judge Bruce Balter, an orthodox New York Civil Judge. What authority does the Beth Din of America have if their decision(s) can be easily overturned in a Civil Court? Why should you go to a Beth Din when their decision was totally irrational and exceeds the arbitrators power? Is this the type of judge you want ruling on your case? Rabbi Mordechai Willig cover-up of Rabbi Baruch Lanner. The Beth Din of America heard a case concerning Rabbi Baruch Lanner, a leader at the NCSY (National Conference of Synagogue Youth) who was physically, emotionally, and sexually abusing woman and children. The Beth Din of America found Rabbi Lanner guilty in a 2 to 1 vote. The Beth Din of America did NOT call the police. The Beth Din of America allowed Rabbi Lanner and his supporters to publicly claim he has been cleared of all charges by the Beth Din. Rabbi Lanner then continued his path of abusing women and children while remaining employed by the OU and the Hillel Academy. The Beth Din of America did nothing to end his employment or even supervise his contact with women and children. More than 3 years after the Beth Din of America’s decision and a continued path of abuse by Lanner, Rabbi Mordechai Willig apologizes to the victims of Rabbi Lanner publicly. A Beth Din covering up for the crimes of a sexual predator? How wrong is this? Allowing a sexual predator to continue in his ways of abusing women and children? This not only brings into question the Beth Din of America, but also NCSY and the OU. It only goes to show the inexperienced and flawed judges on this court. Another Beth Din of America Judge, Rabbi Michael Broyde with “Extremely Disturbing Behavior”. An indefinite leave of absence from the Beth Din of America for Rabbi Michael Broyde. Likewise, his biography has been deleted from the web site of the Beth Din of America where he was previously listed as a member and judge. Broyde crafted a fake alternate identity which he used to correspond with rabbinic journals promoting his own work. He was also shown to have employed various sock puppet accounts to defend his own writings. Is this the type of judge you want ruling on your case? Is Rabbi Steven Pruzansky an Abuser. Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz Allows Child Abuser Rabbi Arye Dudovitz to go free. The Rabbinical Council of Chicago created the Ad Hoc Beth Din of Chicago headed by Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz, which is a special Beth Din (Religious Court) to handle special cases like Arye Dudovitz. This special Beth Din was aware of the allegations against Dudovitz for nearly six years, yet according to the reports, the Rabbis never did anything to warn parents or nearby residents in the community of any potential dangers Rabbi Dudovitz posed to children he came in contact with. Back in 2000, the Ad Hoc Beth Din of Chicago set up guidelines aimed at protecting children, stating that no perpetrator will be allowed to teach or tutor children or enter any school building at any time. Rabbi Dudovitz stated that he met one-on-one with Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz (Nifter 12/09/20). When Schwartz was asked about this, he stated: “No Comment.” Why would Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz allow a known child abuser to mix among children? Why would Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz not turn this person in to the authorities? Why didn’t Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz inform the community or other Rabbis about Dudovitz? Why didn’t Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz at least require Dudovitz to leave the community? Why didn’t Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz apologize to the victims family? Whatever reason Schwartz had for doing what he did, his behavior shows partiality and bias for any future rulings. How can Rabbi Schwartz be so particular about microscopic bugs on spinach and other leafy vegetable, but turning in a pedophile is not really all that necessary? Could Schwartz be senile?
